Late in the evening on July 3, a frantic caller reported that her dog had jumped into the Intracoastal Waterway, and Officer Stebbins promptly responded to the distress call. Upon arriving at the scene, he was met with a heart-wrenching sight: a small dog struggling to stay afloat in the water for nearly 25 minutes.
Without hesitation, Officer Stebbins shed his gear and plunged into the dark water to rescue the exhausted canine. In the pitch-black night, he managed to locate the dog, whose leash had become entangled in nearby dock pilings, adding to the urgency of the situation.
With unwavering determination, Officer Stebbins skillfully untangled the frightened dog and safely brought it back to shore. The dog’s owner was overcome with joy upon being reunited with her beloved furry family member.
